Eligibility Criteria for PM Internship Scheme

The PMIS was launched with the primary aim of helping young professionals in India gain practical skills and industrial experience through internships at top companies across industries.

However, to apply for the program, you must meet the following criteria:

1. 1. Nationality

The candidate must be strictly an Indian citizen. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are not eligible for this scheme.

There is a certain age limit to consider while applying for this program. Individuals between the ages of 21 and 24 are eligible for this program. However, an age relaxation of up to 3 years is applicable for candidates from SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD categories.

Applicants must have completed any one of the following programs:

1. 1. 1. 10th (SSLC) from a recognised board.
      2. 12th (HSC) from a recognised board.
      3. Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification in any trade.
      4. Diploma from a recognised polytechnic institute (engineering, management, hospitality, etc.).
      5. Graduation from a UGC-approved university in disciplines such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Tech, B.Pharma, etc.

Although the PM internship scheme includes candidate profiles with one year of experience, candidates must not be engaged in full-time employment or full-time education while applying for internships under this scheme.

The applicant must have a valid Aadhaar linked bank account. This will be used for the stipend release. The account must be active and linked with NPCI for direct bank transfers.

The candidates must have an active DigiLocker. Candidates must complete the digital verification, which can be done by two methods: fetching from Aadhaar-based e-KYC or providing access to the digilocker.

Ineligibility for PM Internship Scheme

The applicants will be disqualified or considered ineligible for the PM internship scheme under the following circumstances:

• Are above or below the age limit (21-24 years).
• Are currently engaged in full-time employment or education.
• Do not have a valid Aadhaar-linked bank account.
• Fail background verification or provide incorrect information.
• Have participated in any other government-sponsored internship or training program.
• Have a criminal record or pending legal cases.
• Fail to submit correct and valid supporting documents.

2. Click on ‘Register’ and enter your mobile number via OTP authentication.
3. Complete Profile Setup by filling in educational details, preferred sectors, and work experience (if any).
4. Upload required documents like Aadhaar, educational certificates, and bank details.
5. Specify 3 of the preferred sectors or internship opportunities from the webpage.
6. Submit an application and copy your application ID. You can use this ID to track your application status.
7. Shortlisted candidates will receive a message via phone number and email. In some cases, you might also receive interview calls from hiring companies.
8. Selected applicants will receive an offer letter, followed by onboarding instructions.
