Aadhaar Virtual ID

The Aadhaar virtual ID (VID) is a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number that can be used instead of the 12-digit Aadhaar number for authentication purposes. It is designed to protect the privacy of Aadhaar holders by reducing the risk of their Aadhaar number being misused.

The VID is generated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and can be retrieved by Aadhaar holders by logging into their UIDAI account or by using the mAadhaar app.
