The Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE). The main aim of this scheme is to support the complete development of villages where the SC community is more than 50% of the total population. The total population of a village must be more than 500.
The PMAGY Scheme was launched in 2009-2010 and focuses on improving the quality of life for the SC community by providing them with access to education, healthcare facilities, job opportunities, better infrastructure, etc.

Objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana

  • Provides Gap-filling funds of ₹ 20 lakh from the Central Government per village for activities that are not covered under the existing government schemes.

Features of the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana

  • Sanitation: Every village must have a high level of sanitation and must have a drainage system, toilets, and an efficient waste disposal system.
  • Drinking water: The villagers must have access to safe and clean drinking water 24x7.
  • Electricity:All houses must have equal access to electricity.
  • Education: Easy access to education, especially for adults to continue their knowledge and increase their literacy.
  • Agricultural Practices: Promote modern practices and new technology in agriculture-related activities.
